Toes In The Sand

While editing our family photos from the beach the thought crossed my mind that I would love to be able to take photos of other families with their toes in the sand.  However, driving to the beach from East Tennessee might be too long of a drive for a photo shoot.   So, I decided to offer the next best thing: pictures on the lake.   My first shoot on the lake is the K family.  And what a lovely family they are!  J is a fellow photographer, R is an artist, and S is an adorable ray of sunshine! 

District 12

We recently went on vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC.  On our way back home we decided to take a small detour to visit Darlington and then Henry River Mill Village.  (Or as it is known to fans of the Hunger Games: District 12.)  Our daughter Raylee is a huge Hunger Games fan and has wanted to visit District 12 for years.  So getting her picture taken in the iconic places from the movie was a dream come true, for her.  Our son Gavin isn't really into the HG saga.  He's all about cars, trucks, 4-wheelers, basically anything with wheels. (Hence the stop at Darlington.) However, he did let me take a few pictures of him.  My favorite being one in front of the bakery.  I only wish I had planned for this and brought along a white apron and a burnt loaf of bread.  Maybe next time. 

On a side note, today is mine and the hubs 18th wedding anniversary. 18 years!  Wow.  Happy anniversary Tracy.  Time really does fly when you're having fun.

Almost three years

It's going on three years since I started my photography business.  In these three years I have met some amazing people, gotten reacquainted with old friends, had a couple great mentors, and have had a lot of fun!  I am so very thankful for my wonderful clients. And I'm thankful to be doing what I love.  Now, if I could just remember to use this blog.....  ;)

Business Opening!

I have taken the leap and started my own photography business.  Needless to say, I am excited!  I owe my love for photography in part,  to my late grandfather, Hack.  When I was a little girl, he bought me a pink camera for Christmas.  Immediately I began taking pictures.  Pictures of everything.  My parents have pictures of Barbie dolls, Cabbage Patch Kids, and quiet a few family pets, in their collection of photos.

I believe pictures are a way to preserve memories.   So, it is my hope that my clients will one day open their family albums, see a photo I took, and smile at those memories.  The same way I smile, when I see what I saw through my lens, as a child. 

So in closing, I say: Welcome to April Berry Photography!  May the Lord bless you with love, happiness, health, and good memories.
